CHANGES FOR THIRD GRADE
This information is to inform you of several changes in third grade. Your child will start receiving grades, fill out daily planners, and parent will have access to our internet based websites: www.wlb92.org and Common Goal System (teacherease.com).
Grades and grading scaleThe first change is your child will start to receive grades in third grade. I follow the school's grading scale which can be found in the school handbook. I will also post a grading scale in the classroom as a reference for your child.
Grading Scale The grading scale is as follows: 100-93 A 92-85 B 84-77 C 76-70 D 70 or below F BIRTHDAY TREATSBirthday snacks will be allowed for birthdays, if your child has a summer birthday please select a day in May to bring in treats. PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN TREATS THAT NEED CUTTING (I.E. COOKIE CAKES OR BIRTHDAY CAKES)
Please send in only enough birthday treats for third grade (13 students) B.U.G. CLUB
The B.U.G. Club (Bringing Up Grades) is to recognize 3rd through 8th grade students who bring up and maintain their grades based upon numerical averages from the previous grading period during the second, third and fourth quarters of the school year. |
PlannersDaily assignment planners are also a change for third grade; the students will fill in their daily homework assignments. There are several reasons for the daily planners, students may have multiple assignments for an evening, it help with organizational skills, and it gives parents a glimpse of what we did that day. Please check your child's planner each night. The students will be using their WL-B planners to write down all assignments. ALL HOMEWORK WILL BE DUE THE NEXT DAY. I will follow the late assignment grading policy in the handbook. LATE ASSIGNMENT GRADING POLICY The following is taken directly from the WLB handbook: In the event of excused absences, the due date for assignments will be adjusted to allow an equal amount of time as was missed during the absence. Maximum points will be earned. It is the student's responsibility, however, to contact the teacher and arrange to make up missed work. Homework is to be turned in upon teacher request. All work will be accepted and receive full credit (based on performance) within one week of the due date it was assigned. All work is expected to be turned in on due date. This is designed to provide student and parental feedback of ability. However, it is important students understand that late assignment/projects will be subject to the weekly responsibility/conduct grade (10 points) and will count as 10% of the overall grade. Students will receive a weekly grade that is based on preparedness, responsibility, and behavior in the classroom. If an assignment is turned in late, the responsibility grade will be lowered. It is very important that students are taught responsibility. PAW prints will be given weekly for those who earned 100% responsibility points for the week. Four or more "zeros" in a quarter result in loss of PAW party. WL-B Websites
WL-B has two websites
www.wlb92.org is an informational website www.teacherease.com is a website where you will find your child's grades. Each parent needs an account on teacherease.com to access your child's grades. |
